Acacia glaucoptera

Description

Very ornamental generally low growing acacia with flat, wing-like, triangular leaves and new growth flushing red. Some seed grown forms can reach 6x8' to become a medium sized shrub. Bright yellow ball flowers appear in spring. Prefers well-drained soils and tolerates some alkalinity. Prefers partial sun but will grow in full sun or dappled shade. Sometimes foliage will dieback but can be managed with pruning and this promotes new flushes of red growth. Prostrate form is an excellent plant for draping over walls or used as a low border plant.
