Hakea conchifolia

Description

Beautiful small shrub from around Perth, Western Australia. The unique blue-green leaves are shell-shaped, prickly, and fold along the leaf axis. Short flowering period but really grown for the attractive foliage. Great landscape shrub for semi-arid gardens. Does not like humidity. Photo is juvenile leaf, will add a follow up photo as the plant develops. Closely related to Hakea smilacifolia which has a narrower and longer leaf. New introduction to California.
