Macadamia integrifolia

Description

Beautiful small to medium tree, native to rainforests in south east Queensland and northern New South Wales. Grows well in warm dry or higher rainfall situations. Glossy leathery narrow deep green leaves and sprays of fragrant purple-pink-white flowers up to 1' long in winter-spring. Seedlings take longer to bear edible nuts. Macadamias are resistant to Oak Root Fungus. Grow well in high dry heat in Ojai, California. Tolerant of low to moderate frost 25F. Prune when young for strong base and avoid planting on windy sites. Excellent screen and hedge on larger properties.
