Corymbia maculata syn Eucalyptus maculata

Description

Handsome medium to tall tree with a solitary trunk and rounded to spreading dense crown. The deciduous bark when growing in summer- autumn peels to reveal a smooth, cream or bluish trunk in a spotted or blotchy way. A most beautiful trunk and they can be seen growing from San Francisco to San Diego in California. Many species can be seen growing around Ojai California. Trees are grown commercially in Australia for building and my small house I built in Castlereagh with my dad was Spotted Gum. Grows well in subtropical and temperate large gardens. Will grow well in drier inland climates if supplemental water is given for he first two years to establish them (deep infrequent!). Attracts bees and nectar eating birds.
